Lore & History: Garnet is from alluvial deposits (river/glacier deposit, no host rock) that were discovered in the early 1880’s near Fernwood in Benewah County, Idaho, USA. Alluvial deposits are found in the Emerald, Carpenter and Meadow Creeks. These deposits are the basis for the largest industrial garnet mine in the US and produces gem quality, as well. Almandine is the most common garnet found and most widely used variety for jewelry.

Care & Cleaning: Garnet is very durable but try to avoid direct impact to the gemstone. Clean with warm water, detergent, and a soft brush. Idaho Garnet can be put in ultrasonic or steam cleaners.
