I look outside and the sun is shining and the air is brilliantly clear and crisp. Such a great start to the week that Earth Day falls in. This beautiful sunny day epitomizes what Earth day should actually stand for; good stewardship of the environment so that future generations have a planet worth living on. So, Happy Earth Day! Lets make sure we all do our parts to make this world a better place.
A better place means many different things to many different people. Yes, it means better stewardship of our natural environment, but it also means actually thinking of all the people around the world, and their impact on the environment. It means we must find new ways that support the environment, and the people who are part of it. It means finding ways to guide our business so we not only do not harm, but also actually improve the environment and the livelihoods of people who are a part of it. It is this broad concept that we use to measure companies and business opportunities that come our way. It is this broad concept that guides all the business decision we make today.
We produce colored gemstones! To some it may seem odd, but we truly love all the beautiful colors that nature has brought us. This can be the tiniest mint green tsavorite garnet, to the rich royal purple of a 20-carat amethyst. It is the golden color of a precious topaz, or the purity of blue in our finest sapphire. Whatever the colors are, they started with nature and people brought them from the earth to shaped and cut them into the jewels we see today. These gems are a huge part of Earth Day, because they are a gift from the earth. These gifts also bring a need for responsibility with them. As a company, we show our appreciation for this gift by ensuring that both the environment and the people who mine, cut, and craft our gems and jewelry are treated with the respect they deserve.
On this special day, where a pandemic seems to be swirling all around us, it is a good time for all of us to look a look our companies and see how we can support the whole environment around us. We can do this with personal actions; we can do this by looking at your business and making sure they support the goals of Earth Day. Whatever it is, a time for reflection helps us see what is good, and what can be improved, when striving to build a better world for generations to come.
