Cortez Pearls® are cultured from the ‘rainbow-lipped’ Pteria sterna oyster, also known as the Pacific Wing-oyster. For years, even experts believed this oyster species incapable of producing round pearls, a notion recently proven wrong. Though less common, the Pteria sterna oyster has proven to provide some of the most stunning semi-round pearls you will ever see. A rarity that adds exceptional value to the jewelry featuring them.
