Colorless Can Be Your Best Friend too!

Colorless Can Be Your Best Friend too!

Diamonds are the traditional birthstone for the month of April, but we’ve seen an increasing interest for alternate white or colorless gemstones over the years. While diamonds clearly still hold their place in traditional wedding sets and other jewelry, there is a wide variety of colorless gems making their way into beautiful jewelry designs today.

So, what are alternate options for colorless gems? You can find beautiful white to near-white sapphire, lustrous white beryl (a colorless version of morganite or aquamarine), clear quartz, and white zircon to name a few. Years ago, people actually thought of white zircons as imitation diamonds because of their high brilliance, but in reality, they’re beautiful gemstones in their own right. In addition to these alternatives, you can even find unusual stones like faceted white opal mined in the state of Oregon.

As you can see, there’s an array of colorless gems to choose from when looking for an alternative to diamonds. Depending on your jewelry design, or your client's needs, finding an alternative that speaks to you isn't as hard as it might seem.
