February is for Amethyst
Amethyst is one of the best-known gems of the quartz family. Its rich purple color has been praised for centuries. As one of the 12 original birthstones, Amethyst has held its place as the birthstone for February to this day.
This gemstone originates from many locations around the world, but we offer two main colorways of Amethyst. One from South America and one from the United States. Our trademarked Iris Amethyst™ is from Uruguay and Brazil and showcases a deep, rich, and beautifully translucent purple. Brazil is most famous for its Amethyst from the Amazon in the southern state of Rio Grande del Sol. Then we have our American mined Amethyst from Montana and Arizona. This material has a wide color range from soft pale-purples to luscious lavenders and even some darker intense purples. These are some of our most famous and well established Amethyst origins, but various grades of Amethyst are found in many locations worldwide.
Amethyst can be as small as a tenth of a carat and can go as large as hundreds of carats. This is one of the most wide-ranging gems in terms of both color and size, so it's easy to find one that suits you.
