New Untreated Winza Sapphires and Rubies

Columbia Gem House announces the release of a new collection of untreated sapphires and rubies sourced from the Winza and surrounding mining regions in central Tanzania. Known for producing exceptionally vibrant corundum, this East African locality has yielded material notable for its chromium-rich composition and excellent clarity.
The new inventory features an extensive color range, including vivid pinks, saturated purples, fuchsia, padparadscha, and true rubies. These sapphires and rubies are 100% untreated, with many pieces exhibiting natural bicolor zoning due to chromophore variation within a single crystal. This includes combinations of red and blue, some of which result in striking bicolor and kaleidoscope gemstones, each showcasing unique color combinations seen in the collection.
The initial offering includes rounds, baguettes, pears, and marquise shapes in calibrated sizes 4.5mm and under. Columbia Gem House’s cutting team has carefully oriented each stone to maximize both color intensity and overall brilliance.
"Establishing a dependable supply chain for this material has been an important project for us," says Columbia Gem House’s sourcing team. "This material meets our standards for traceability and offers exceptional quality. We're particularly excited about offering clean, richly saturated pink sapphire in a market where untreated material is increasingly rare."
The primary color range — including pinks, purples, fuchsias, and padparadscha tones — is now available in volume online at www.columbiagemhouse.com. Registered wholesale buyers can log in to view current inventory and pricing.
