Preparing for Pearl Harvest
April marks a quieter—but incredibly important—moment in the life cycle of Cortez Pearls®. While harvest doesn’t begin until June, this is when the team is actively preparing—monitoring oyster health, maintaining the farm, and ensuring everything is in place for the months ahead. After years of care, these oysters are nearing the final stage of a long, carefully managed process that can take up to four years.
In the Sea of Cortez, our partners take a hands-on, intentional approach at every step. The team works closely with each oyster, supporting growth and protecting the surrounding ecosystem—an approach that not only produces some of the rarest cultured pearls in the world, but also helps sustain local marine life. As harvest season approaches, preparation becomes key to ensuring the best possible conditions for the pearl oysters.
It’s a reminder that what we see in June is only a small part of the story. Behind every Cortez Pearl is years of patience, care, and preparation—happening right now beneath the surface.
