To Our Columbia Gem House Community
Like so many, we are heartbroken over the events between Russia and Ukraine that continue to take place. As a business, one of our overarching goals has always been to proactively act toward creating a better world with what we do. As many of you already know, we also value transparency at Columbia Gem House, and because of this, we felt it important to acknowledge, seek a positive outreach, and to act.
First, we want to acknowledge that for materials such as Chrome Diopside, Demantoid Garnet, and Jadeite, Russia has been a reliable source for many years in producing the responsibly sourced gems that we offer today. While our existing products that originate from Russia were brought to market following our Fair Trade Gems® Protocols and were ethically produced, we have decided that, during this time, we are not comfortable sourcing or producing any additional Russian materials until further notice.
In effort to proactively support something positive in a world of chaos, between now and March 31st, we will donate 100% of sales from existing gems sourced from Russia to Doctors Without Borders, in support of those directly impacted by the conflict. We have made an initial donation of $250 and will also donate 5% of all www.columbiagemhouse.com website sales through March 31st.
