Hexagon Collection

Hexagon Collection

There’s no question that creative cutting is at the heart of what we do at Columbia Gem House. We first set up our cutting workshop in the late 80’s, and now have some of the most skilled cutters in the industry. From calibrated cutting of melee, traditional and creative styles, to incredibly skilled hand-carved intaglios, and of course spectacular one-of-a-kind gems.

Over the years, we have seen fads, trends, and longstanding love affairs with different styles of gems. Recently, hexagon shaped gems have become one of the most requested styles we get asked for. And you know us, we can’t just do one style... So, we’ve tested, asked for feedback and experimented with a variety of hexagon styles. Here are some of our most popular (and some of our favorite) hexes.

The Traditional Faceted Hex

The traditional faceted hexagon is one we see in countless daily wear designs. Anything from birthstone adornments to engagement and bridal sets. We still offer some creativity with traditional hexes, so you may find some step cut, some with honeycomb cut tops, and others with varying measurements. There is plenty to explore!

Hex Tablets & Slices

Hex tablets and slices are some of our favorite and most popular hexagon styles. We have dozens of available varieties in this style, anything from chalcedony, Ethiopian opal, leopard opal, lattice sunstone, moonstone, labradorite, Chilean lapis, rutilated quartz, tourmaline, turquoise, malachite, amazonite, and even rubies and sapphires. The list goes on.

Rose Cut Hexes

Last but not least, the rose cut hexagon is a creative spin on traditional. Another gem style that we love to cut in any variety – sapphires, tourmalines, opaques, you name it. Giving a disco-dimension to each gemstone, this style does not disappoint. Showcasing beautiful surface luster as well as unique details within each gem, it’s no surprise this style is a favorite of ours.
